Tomato Gurl

The Tomato Gurl painting, comprised of 3 self-standing wooden parts, was loosely based on the culminating imagery from a poem I wrote years ago. In the poem, a girl enters a garden and eats a tomato, and in the process stains her white dress with the tomato. Innocent oppossums hang from a tree nearby. The suburban scene is completed by the white wooden picket fence, separating the wild creatures from the little girl.

The newspapers in the background lined the walls of the American Dream 4 installation and performance — the Tomato Girl painting was one of many retrospective works shown during AD4.
