lou suSi slated to teach Web
Design II course at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell
Boxford MA : May 18 2004 — lou suSi, a Massachusetts-based
web + graphic designer, performance + installation
artist — has been slated to teach Web Design
II at University of Massachusetts at Lowell in the
fall of 2004.
Web Design II is the second in a three-part Web
curriculum in the Art Department at the University
of Lowell. "Web II seems to be right up my alley
in many ways," said lou suSi. "I will get
to establish fictitious clients for each student
to generate a full fledged web presence for over
the course of the autumn semester. Each student will
act as a designer of their own firm, presenting numerous
studies to the class. The class will act as the client,
with my role being that of key clientelle contact.
The possible scenarios are seemingly endless regarding
the direction each project could take. And each student
will gain further exposure into key technologies
and tools for web design and development."
lou suSi taught the course "Aesthetics and
Critical Studies of New Media" for the Spring
of 2004 at UML. "Although I enjoyed teaching
New Media Art concepts this spring, I feel that I
will be able to really bring my industry expertise
into the classroom with Web II. This is, after all,
what I do day in, day out — web design and
development, client interaction, experience and usability
assessment and enhancement. Combine this with my
background in the fine arts and my recent concentrations
on installation and performance art, and I am sure
we are in for some mind and media-bending fun for
the fall."
